Het leven van Jack wordt helemaal op zijn kop gezet wanneer hij door zijn ouders naar zijn verre neef Tashi wordt gestuurd. Tashi woont afgelegen, in een dorp waar werkelijkheid en fantasie door elkaar heen lijken te lopen. Tashi wordt er op handen gedragen, omdat hij zo’n beetje de beschermer is van het dorp, dat geregeld geplaagd wordt door vreemde wezens en vreselijke schurken. Voor de intelligente Jack is het erg wennen in die nieuwe omgeving, waar niks nog te verklaren of op te lossen valt met de hem zo vertrouwde logica. Jack’s rationele aanpak en Tashi’s impulsieve avontuurlijkheid, maken evenwel dat ze samen sterker zijn. Ze vullen elkaar mooi aan. De jongens beleven samen de gekste avonturen, maar kunnen daarbij altijd rekenen op Lotus, een vrolijke, gekke meid, die Tashi en Jack zo’n beetje in evenwicht houdt. Met hun drietjes nemen ze het op tegen reuzen, spoken, heksen, bandieten, demonen, draken en ander onguur gezelschap.
