DETAILS ABOUT Menschen für Menschen
Seit 1981 leistet Menschen für Menschen „Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe“ in ländlichen Regionen Äthiopiens. Über 600 Mitarbeiter:innen sind vor Ort tätig und setzen mit der Bevölkerung Maßnahmen aus den Bereichen Landwirtschaft, Wasser, Bildung, Gesundheit und Einkommen um. Die Bevölkerung wird von Beginn an in die Planung und Umsetzung eingebunden. Ziel ist es, ganze Regionen langfristig unabhängig von fremder Hilfe zu machen - 13 der 28 Projektregionen wurden bisher abgeschlossen. Rund 6 Mio. Menschen in Gebieten mit einer Gesamtfläche von ca. 60.000 km² profitieren von der Arbeit der Organisation. Seit 1981 wurden z.B. 2.810 Brunnen und Quellfassungen, 103 Krankenstationen und Kliniken sowie 466 Schulen errichtet. Rund 30.600 Frauen erhielten einen Mikrokredit, rund 70.000 Menschen eine Augenlicht rettende Operation und 747 Baumschulen wurden eingerichtet sowie über 286 Millionen Baumsetzlinge ausgegeben bzw. gepflanzt.
