Tony Cucchiara e’ stato un cantante, autore e regista italiano. All’inizio degli anni Sessanta si è imposto nel panorama musicale grazie a brani quali Annalisa (1962), La strada nel sole (1966) cantata in duetto con la prima moglie, Nelly Fioramonti, Se vuoi Andare vai (1966) o Preghiera presentata al Festival di San Remo (1972). Molte delle sue canzoni sono state tradotte ed incise in diversi paesi. Dopo un decennio di successi nella musica leggera e folk, ha abbandonato la canzone per dedicarsi al teatro e nell’arco dei successivi anni ha scritto musicals molto amati dalla platea e dalla critica; tra questi Caino e Abele (1972) riconosciuto come la prima opera rock Italiana, Pipino il Breve (1978) che vanta tournée in tutto il mondo, La Baronessa di Carini (1980), Stracci (1983), Don Chisciotto di Girgenti (1990) e L'altra Cenerentola (1997). Tony è stato inoltre per più di venti anni uno degli autori del programma televisivo Uno mattina in famiglia, regia di Michele Guardi’.
