Il est né en France en 1978, et a grandi dans la cité des Martinets, au Kremlin-Bicêtre ville du Val-de-Marne. Fils d'expatriés marocains originaires de Oujda, Kamel se passionne pour le rap depuis 1993, d'abord comme amateur, ensuite en se mettant à écrire ses propres textes. En effet, d'après lui, à l'époque, la mode était au rap et tous les jeunes voulaient rapper. C'était également pour lui un moyen d'exprimer plus facilement ce qu'il voyait et ce qu'il ressentait. Bien avant sa passion pour le rap, les jeunes de son quartier le surnommaient "l'ancien" car c'était le surnom donné à son grand frère et parce que trop pauvre, il portait souvent les mêmes vêtements démodés et vieux.
