Saratoga a fait le pari de la lenteur en partant, il y a de ça sept ans. Le pari de l’économie de moyens, de faire carrière en brassant le moins d’air possible, avec la confiance que le message passe encore mieux s’il est murmuré. Le pari d’arriver au silence par la musique. Pour le projet Forêts l’idée était simple : bousculer les acquis, tout en affinant la démarche déjà entamée. Ça a commencé par le désir de travailler sans les mots, sans la charge mentale et émotive qu’ils peuvent imposer à l’écriture d’une chanson. Il fallait faire sobre et ambiant, mais néanmoins lumineux et brillant. Saratoga s’est présenté au studio Wild en décembre avec la tête claire, avec l’idée de transposer en musique ce que lui évoquerait le lac fraîchement gelé, visible par la grande baie-vitrée.
