كان الفنان عبد المنعم العامري قبل بدايتة الفنية شغوفا بكرة القدم وظل يمارسها كلاعب بنادي العين لمدة (9) سنوات الي ان ابعدتة الاصابة عن الملاعب. وخلال فترة علاجة من تلك الاصابة التي المت به تحول شغفة الي الغناء. فبداء بتعلم العزف على الة العود التي يجيد عبدالمنعم العزف عليها وتحول هذا الشغف بعد تعلمة العزف الي عشق لالة العود بل امتد هذا العشق الي فن الغناء بشكل عام وكما يقول الفنان عبد المنعم العامري ان حبة لفن الغناء كان سببة الرئيسي هو تلك الكوكبة التي اثرت فن الغناء خليجيا في تلك الايام منهم هذا العملاق الفنان ابو بكر سالم ومنهم فنان العرب محمد عبدة والفنان فيصل العلوي و الفنان الامارتي الكبير ميحد حمد وكما يقول عبد المنعم العامري ان حبة للفنان ميحد حمد كان لة عظيم الاثر في تحولة من الهواية الي احتراف الغناء ومنذ ان تحول الفنان عبد المنعم العامري الي احتراف الغناء والي الان اصدر عدد (6) البومات كان اولها عام 1998 البوم تريد الهوي تلك الاغنية التي عرفت عبد المنعم العامري بالجمهور خليجيا وعربيا رغم ان كلمات ولحن هذة الاغنية من اللون الاماراتي
