Al Parc Natural de Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac la població de falcons va davallar molt considerablement durant les dècades dels anys 1970 i 1980 degut fonamentalment a l'acció dels pesticides agrícoles, la caça furtiva, i a la modificació dels hàbitats del falcó (abandonament de cultius, urbanització, etc.) Durant els darrers anys, aquesta espècie ha anat colonitzant aquest territoris degut a l'activitat de conservació en els espais naturals, entre altres, l'aclarida de zones boscoses, l'augment de superfícies conreades i la regulació d'algunes activitats excursionistes (escalada i curses multitudinàries, fonamentalment) El niu on estan instal·lats aquests falcons correspon a un antic niu on havia niat anteriorment una parella d'àguiles cuabarrades. Des de l'any 2012 s'està enregistrant el procés de nidificació i desenvolupament dels polls de Falcó pelegrí en aquest niu.
