Za početak da se vratim na početak. Zašto sam se uopće latio gitare, krenuo pisati pjesme a poslije ih urlati u mikrofon. Mislim da je najveći razlog bio samoća uzrokovana prečestim selidbama. Moji su roditelji, naime, smatrali da se klinci svugdje dočekaju na noge. Tako sam se na početku srednje škole našao u kući na brdu. Tamo sam samoću položio s pet. Gramofon se non-stop vrtio. Slušao sam sve, od Yu-rocka, preko američkog folka, heavy metala, gospela, bluza do punka. Ali sad, kad gledam, što je ostalo od tih silnih albuma, vidim da su to mahom veliki pjesnici. I tad sam, očito, najviše cijenio, one koje su znali s riječima, koji su pričali priče u kojima sam se mogao prepoznati, koji bi mi dali osjećaj pripadanja njihovom plemenu čak tamo na brdu, na kraju ulice, na debeloj periferiji. Ideja da neki ljudi mogu uzeti samo gitaru u ruke i snagom riječi i melodije oživjeti cijeli svemir likova a onda ih odvesti od kolijevke do groba u tri, četiri minute, me potpuno fascinirala.
