Onur Akın, 6 Mart 1967 tarihinde Bitlis'in Ahlat ilçesinde doğmuştur. Müzik serüveni küçük yaşlarda başlamıştır. Profesyonel müzik yaşamına 1987 yılında kurmuş olduğu ‘GRUP BARAN’la başlamıştır. Bu ilk albümünün hem bestecisi hem de yorumcusudur. Kendisine ait 400 e yakın bestesi vardır. En zor şiirleri en başarılı ezgilerle bütünleştirmek gibi önemli bir ustalığı vardır. Topluma karşı olan duyarlılığı aydın kimliği de önemlidir.
