Born in Tryon (United States) on 02/21/1933; Died in Carry-le-Rouet (France) 21/04/2003 Nina Simone is an American singer and pianist who greatly influenced Jazz and Blues music. His peculiar voice and its commitment against racial prejudice contributed to its entry in the legend of the great voices of the twentieth century. She began her apprenticeship at the age of three years with gospel songs. After being victim of racism in an segregationist USA, she decided to give her every best to become the first black classical concert artist in the US. A cover of "I Love You, Porgy", becomes her signature. His recording of his first album,"Little Girl Blue" (1958), the known to the general public. After, it's mostly by live albums she stand out from 1959 to 1967. She is active in the 1960s in the fight for civil rights, which is strongly felt in the songs she chooses to interpret in concert. Nina Simone moved a lot, but finally settled in France in 1992.
