The Nepal Literature Festival is Nepal's only international literature festival. Since its inception in 2011, it has been bringing together many national and international writers for a celebration of the written and spoken word. The festival has hosted some of the most well-known writers, such as Vinod Mehta, Shobhaa De, Amish Tripathi, Ravinder Singh, Shashi Tharoor, Ira Trivedi, Ned Beauman, Farah Ghuznavi, Annie Zaidi, Carlo Pizzati, Sir Mark Tully, Tishani Doshi and Hartosh Singh Bal, to name a few. The Festival provides a wonderful opportunity for Nepali readers to listen to and interact with world renowned writers, gives Nepali literature lovers much needed international exposure, while also making sure international writers are provided with a glimpse of the Nepali literary scene. It also opens up possibilities for literary translation.
