Norsk-nigersk-ghanesiske Abdulhakim Hassane, under artistnavnet Hkeem, debuterte med låten "Svartingens synspunkt" i 2016, og fikk platekontrakt med Def Jam/Universal Music i 2017. Samme år fikk han sitt kommersielle gjennombrudd med "Fy Faen". Låten toppet både streaminglister og den offisielle norske hitlisten samme år, ble nominert i kategorien "årets låt" under P3 Gull 2017 og vant klassen "årets låt" under Spellemannprisen 2017. Hkeem ble nominert til "årets nykommer" under både P3 Gull og Spellemann 2017. Han vant Spellemannprisen 2018 i klassen "årets musikkvideo" for "Ghettoparasitt", regissert av Thor Brenne. Samme år ble han signert til Dreammaker/Sony Music. Hkeem har spilt på blant annet Stavernfestivalen, Slottsfjell, Ekstremsportvekok, Canal Street, Vervenfestivalen, Utopia, Festningen-festivalen og VG-lista.
