Julien, der Erstgeborene, ist ein lieber, intelligenter und tierlieber Junge. Er verbringt gern Zeit mit seinem Freund, dem kleinwüchsigen Sumpf-Menschen Tony Parsons, im Sumpf und ist ein leidenschaftlicher Forscher. Allerdings führen Juliens gutgemeinte Ideen des öfteren zu Ärger. Sein Bruder Wayne ist im Gegensatz zu ihm ein böser, aggressiver und brutaler Junge. Er hat einen makaberen Humor und hält nicht viel von Schule. Das Mädchen Wendy Winkle, das in Wayne verliebt ist, nervt ihn ziemlich. Er sammelt Schrott und ist daher gern auf dem Schrottplatz seines Freundes Drity Joe. Doch am liebsten macht er Julien das Leben schwer.
