The Coptic Museum located at Old Cairo in the middle of Religions ‎Community where you can find the Hanging Church one of the oldest churches ‎in Egypt, Ben Ezra the oldest and important Jewish Synagogue and the oldest ‎Mosque in Africa “Amr Ibn Al-as Mosque” near to the archeological site of first ‎Egyptian Islamic capital (El-Fustat). All these places were built above the ‎remains of the Roman Fortress “Babylon” which had been founded by ‎Emperor Trajan; its walls can still be seen from the entrance of the museum‎ The Coptic Museum in Old Cairo was founded in 1910 by a wealthy, ‎influential, Marcus Simaika Pasha, who collects the Coptic artifacts and ‎treasures around all Egypt, with the support of the Coptic Church. In 1931 ‎The Coptic Museum was turned into a national museum under the supervision ‎of Egypt's Antiquities service, recognizing the importance of the Coptic ‎heritage as a major period of Egyptian History.‎
