Η Έλλη Κοκκίνου γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα. Μεγαλώνοντας σε ένα οικογενειακό περιβάλλον με αγάπη για τη μουσική, ανέπτυξε από μικρή ένα έντονο ενδιαφέρον για τη μουσική, με αφετηρία τη συμμετοχή της στη σχολική χορωδία. Στη συνέχεια ξεκίνησε μαθήματα κλασικής κιθάρας στο Αττικό Ωδείο για 5 χρόνια και αμέσως μετά ιδιαίτερα μαθήματα ακουστικής και ηλεκτρικής κιθάρας. Έντονο επίσης ήταν το ενδιαφέρον της για τον αθλητισμό καθώς για 6 χρόνια και πριν τελειώσει το σχολείο ήταν αθλήτρια στο θαλάσσιο σκι, κερδίζοντας σε πανελλήνιο πρωτάθλημα την τρίτη θέση και πολλά χρυσά μετάλλια και κύπελλα. Τελειώνοντας το σχολείο, σχημάτισε το πρώτο της συγκρότημα με το όνομα "Ανώνυμοι", ενώ παράλληλα έδωσε εξετάσεις και μπήκε στη σχολή Βακαλό όπου σπούδασε γραφιστική, ελεύθερο και αρχιτεκτονικό σχέδιο και ιστορία τέχνης. Ασχολήθηκε για πρώτη φορά επαγγελματικά με το τραγούδι το 1990 με παρότρυνση του Κώστα Τουρνά. Στη συνέχεια ακολούθησαν συνεργασίες με μεγάλα ονόματα της μουσικής σκηνής όπως, ο Αντώνη
