Malik Bey’in de Davut için hiç beklenmeyen bir teklifi vardır. Malik Bey’in kızı Gülfem hayatın gerçeklerinden uzak, korunarak büyütülmüştür. Gülfem; ele avuca gelmez, söz dinlemez, hatta kaba-saba bir adam olarak gördüğü Davut’a zamanla içten içe hayranlık duymaya başlar. Malik Bey ise kızı Gülfem’i, Ali Gelik adında zengin bir maden patronuyla evlendirmeyi düşünmektedir.
